The Course is situated
on Matlock Moor, about one and a half miles North
of Matlock on the Chesterfield Road, rising to 850
feet above sea level. Designed and laid out in 1907
by that famous Professional, the late Tom Williamson,
the course generally speaking, calls for accuracy
rather than long hitting.
Bentley Brook meanders
through the course to give special interest on several
holes and the undulating moorland, with its trees,
heather, ravines and gullies, provides for a very
interesting and testing round of golf, enhanced by
superb views down the Derwent Valley. The 11th
fairway features the Cuckoo Stone, a gritstone rock
on which the club motif is based.
After the game the
visitor will find a warm and friendly atmosphere in
the modern clubhouse which provides all the facilities
expected by today's golfers. Our
friendly professional staff are available should you
require advice or equipment. The well stocked professional
shop stands adjacent to the first tee.
